Daily Dose of Water - Sea of Fish

So, apparently I have two challenges ahead of me. Help my pregnant sister find a wedding dress she feels beautiful in and find a way of standing out as a brand from all the other swimwear designers. I don't know which one is more challenging. This much I do know, only you can can do this. Don't let someone else define who you are. It's not that they might have bad ideas or suggestions. I listen to everything because some of my friends are wise business people way before I ever thought about having my own business and I just don't know everything. Just remember, in the end, you have to be the one that makes the final decision and be at peace with it. Wish me luck and have a great weekend.

Daily Dose Of Water - Donousa, Greece

From the small Greek island of Donousa, part of the group of islands usually known as the Small Cyclades. Donousa is a place for those who want to "get away from it all". There are four villages, most of them having fewer than 20 inhabitants, connected by the island's only road. No buses, no discos, no Irish pubs, no Internet-caf├ęs (?????), most supplies are delivered by a small ferry three times a week, a handful of places to stay, a handful of restaurants, a few beaches and a lot of aggressive insects. Daily Dose of Water - Elegy

Therese + Joel and their new series "Elegy," a body of work that deals with sacrifice and the loss of control.  This image truly emotes some of my feelings this week but more importantly, the subject is still alive and on the shore.

Have a safe and wonderful weekend.  Happy Father's Day to all, especially to my cousin and his wife, who welcomed a new baby girl into the family.  Sugar and Spice and everything nice ...

An Inspiring Quote

"Many of us stockpile dreams for years, cataloging and filing them away for later. Some of our heads are so full of them that it is hard to believe there is enough room for them all. If space does become a concern, one of the best places to store a dream is in reality. Once your dream has been realized, it is technically no longer your dream, but it may serve as inspiration for other peoples' dreams, in which case, it is still something of a dream. There is something of a dream in almost everything around us."  Sam Grawe, Editor-in-Chief of Dwell Magazine

Inspiration - Sometimes It's Right In Front of You

The Cosmic Cavern installed by artist Kenny Scharf includes hundreds of found objects, toys, and pieces of trash painted in neon, black-lit colors.
I grew up in New York City in the 1980's. It was more "New Jack City" back then and complete mayhem with the crack epidemic, but somehow, art rose from all this. I remember waiting for the 2/5 subway train in Brooklyn with my mother and being totally disappointed if the train did not have graffiti on it.  My mother on the other hand was happy that it was freshly painted. To her, it meant a clean car, to me, just another boring ride.  Fast forward to today, artist like Basquiat, Andy Warhol and Keith Haring all have museums or organizations showing their work. It's amazing what was looked as a blight on the landscape suddenly becomes art years later.

Zhang Xiao Quan - Chinese Scissor Company

Zhang Xiao Quan - Chinese Scissor Company
Zhang Xiao Quan - Chinese Scissor Company
So while doing my daily email troll on Trendland, I came across this article on the rebranding of a 348-year old Chinese scissor brand by Zhang Xiao Quan Chinese scissor company.   There's just something about the simplicity of the design of these tools that just makes me melt. Weird, yes, I know -- but that's just me. My next thought was, I must have these but really, would I ever use them? Probably not. If I ever bought them, I would just frame them and look at them while I indulged in some beverage. The workmanship in my eyes is akin to art. Le sigh.

Video - Dawn Penn "City Life"

It's been a minute since we have heard from Dawn Penn and the timing could not have been better for me. Ms. Penn, you would probably say you never left, either way, nice to have something besides "You Don't Love Me" on my music rotation. Thanks to my "Facebook" cousin, Jaime D'Jsens Isaacs for posting this.

Daily Dose of Water - Thailand

It has been an interesting and inspiring week here at Golden I.  That however, makes it extremely busy, too busy to post and get into the details but trust me, it's all good.  In the meantime, have a safe and wonderful weekend.  I'll try to be better at this but it's hard.  :-)
